The Yard Shunter works hand-in-glove with his Yard
Shunting Driver to safely and timeously move rolling
stock around the yards as directed by the Yard
Controller.
He strictly, without deviation, follows SAR
operational procedures and NEVER places himself in
harms way.
His task is safety-critical because shunting
operations are very hazardous and his life is in the
hands of his Driver.
He reverts all queries to the Shunting and Yard
coordinator.
He takes no decisions without proper authorised
instruction and has the right to refuse to follow
any unsafe instruction or any instruction not in
accordance with SAR procedures.
* Ensure that rolling stock is safely coupled,
uncoupled, connected and disconnected within the
yards.
* Ensure that Procedures are followed.
* Ensure Safety Standards are met.
* Report any and all unsafe operations.
* Propose safety improvements.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS : Trained and experience Shunter.
EXPERIENCE
4 - 8 years relevant experience.
3 Years experience with a Freight Railway.
COMPETENCIES
Self motivated, good leader, tenacious,
perfectionist.

the Railway upon issue of Council of Ministers
decision number 56 dated 04/ 03/ 1424H, to prepare
the technical studies for the North-South Railway
project which will contribute in setting the main
foundations to benefit from the mineral wealth of
the phosphate and bauxite available in the north and
center of the kingdom. Also, the railway project
will contribute in the transfer of minerals to the
processing plants in Ras Al-Khair north of Jubail
city and establishing a specialized company in the
railway industry to put forward the project for
implementation and supervision. This railway project
will also provide passenger train service across the
rail network, and will provide general freight train
service to transfer industrial, agricultural, and
other products from one place to another.
The Royal Decree Number (M/26) dated 25/ 04 /1427H
was issued which ruled to agree to license the
establishment of the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) to
construct and implement the North-South Railway
project and the services and facilities related
thereto, and operation and management, supervision
with the necessary competence in accordance to
economical operating standards, and following
international standards in performance and safety.
